Scouts in planes will fly down and collect coal, wood, stone, clay and forage for food and bring resources back to the ship. You’ll be gathering resources from the ground below your ship. But, of course, you also need to keep an ample supply of fuel otherwise, your city in the sky won’t be moving far at all. Scouts returning from the ground with resourcesĪs you build your unique sky city, you’ll need to consider lift and propulsion and maintaining both. I found the story to be intriguing, and it held my attention till the end. Kingdom’s will also provide their area speciality resources such as coal or wood. On allying with these kingdoms, you’ll get another influx of citizens, of which you’ll need at least 150 by the end of the game. They will ask you to do a few quests, progressing to building a sky port, before, at last, they will be your allies. Your primary focus will be to find and unite the other kingdoms.
To do this, you fly around the sky in your steampunk airship, visiting cities and completing quests. The ultimate goal is to bring all cultures into alliance once more. Re-discovering those artefacts and the mysteries of the ancient civilisations and gaining the allegiance of the great cities on the ground is key to achieving your ultimate goal. So the wonder of being masters of the sky soon became artefacts of a bygone age. But, alas, many of the people returned to the land over time and have forsaken the skies. It can be a lot to keep on top of, but then you’ve also got to remember that this city isn’t stationary, it has to constantly be on the move completing missions and ensuring your lil’ aircraft are in range of the resources they need. You need to assign them to specialist buildings for them to operate, and you also just as importantly need to send them out into the world around you - via cute little aircraft - to harvest timber, water, coal and other natural resources, without which neither the workers or city can keep running. While there’s loads of resources to gather or create, workers are the game’s real currency, as nothing can happen without them, and each one of them has a name and is a precious treasure.
